With Christmas approaching, we are getting a number of requests for iPad repairs or tablet/laptop sales.
It is with regret that we are no longer offering phone or tablet repairs and cannot source laptops or tablets at affordable prices and the quality we would like to offer our clients. Sorry for any inconvenience this causes.
Unfortunately the nation voted to pay more for all of those items, so small businesses like ours can no longer source parts or equipment at the low prices we are used to. Brexit means that items imported from the EU are now subject to additional shipping and customs costs, these are often so high that it wipes out any profit we would have made. As a simple example, a replacement iPad button used to cost approximately £5 with postage, it now costs £20 after the customs fees and declarations have been paid. The alternative is to buy cheaper parts from Asia which are not up to the same standard and are often flimsy or broken upon arrival. We don’t like providing inferior, unreliable parts to our customers.
Likewise, sending equipment to our clients in the EU is now more costly too. we recently sent a package to a client in France which was shoe box sized and weighed no more than a couple of kilograms. “Next Day” delivery via UPS took 5 days and cost £45. This is simply not viable for small UK-based businesses anymore.
It was a choice between believing the experts at the Bank of England and numerous business leaders or Nigel Farage, Jacob Rees-Mogg and that guy from Wetherspoons. Unfortunately for small businesses, the nation put their trust in the latter.
We are happy to say that the network support, server support and websites parts of our business are still thriving and we continue to offer huge amounts of expertise and experience at great prices. We look forward to working with all of our clients, old and new in 2023.
